Over 200 different bird species have been recorded in the park and it is believed that around 70 different species reside in the park. Getting ThereThe sand dunes can be difficult getting to by yourself if you are unfamiliar with Santa Cruz and don't know the roads. It is best to have a local take you or ask a taxi to see if they can take you.A taxi may have to drop you off at the park entrance because the dirt road may be to rough and you'll probably have to walk the 2km from the park entrance to reach the sand dunes. If you do go it is recommended to use a four-wheel drive vehicle or an ATV (four-wheeler) because once you enter the park, the road is sand and dirt and sometimes have shallow water on the road.
